The release of the 8th episode of the anime Spy Classroom has been delayed due to an escalation in the spread of covid-19. The anime series has been declared temporarily on hold as the date of release of the 8th episode has been reset from 23 February to 3 March. The news of the delay came on Thursday in the form of a statement directly from the official website of the Spy Classroom anime.

However, the same statement also announced that instead of the 8th episode a second part of the anime's special program Gokujō Spy Mission will air on February 23. This news has left several fans in dismay as they are sharing their dismay on various social media platforms at the same time they are relieved that this delay will only last for a week as compared to the unforeseen delays that some of the other anime series are facing currently.
It is not the first time that an anime has gone on hiatus or even a temporary halt because of the spread of covid-19 various other anime franchises have shared the same fate in the past and some are facing the same problem even now. Other contemporary anime like The Misfit of Demon King Academy (has delayed the release of season 2's episode 7), and Megaton Musashi (has delayed the last two episodes of season 2) have also declared a delay for the release of their future episodes due to rising covid-19 cases. Various anime franchises faced/face this same situation whenever there is a sudden outbreak of covid-19 in Tokyo or other regions of Japan that are home to the most popular anime studios.
